I always call it sheimi for some reason, I guess that was the japanese spelling of it before we got to find out what it was called in english? And then we found out, but I find “shaymin” kinda.. ehhhhhhhhhh. BUT I’M DIGRESSING.
Hands down my favourite legendary of all time. OF ALL TIME. It’s the cutest design and so flowery and IT’S A HEDGEHOG. UGH HOW CAN YOU GO WRONG WITH THAT
I can’t describe, just everything about it is adorable and I can’t stand it I love it so much
Day 24: Favourite Pokemon Design
HOW FREAKEN COOL DOES COFAGRIGUS LOOK
oh man I am going to pursue this Pokemon SO HARD when I play White/White 2. I want this in my team YESTERDAY.
I can’t get over how rad it looks. That grin, the hands flowing everywhere, so much swagggg. People like to whine and moan about inanimate object Pokemon, but I seem to really love those. Litwick, Cofagrigus. I JUST CAN’T GET OVER IT.
I still remember seeing the design for the first time and just thinking i WANT THIS UGH I WANT THIS
Day 23: Favourite Single-Stage Pokemon (Pokemon that doesn’t evolve)
SH-SHUT UP, I’LL FIGHT ALL OF YOU
but chatot is so cute ;__;
ugh its head is a songnote
UGH IT’S GOT SUCH A CUTE CRY
augdhgdfkgjfg i love it
Day 22: Favourite Mega Evolution
I always thought mega evolution was kinda dumb, like when it was revealed I rolled my eyes at it and was never too interested in pursuing it in the story mode. I got the Lucario and boxed it, had no mega in my team since I boxed Blastoise and Blaziken. Kinda went through the whole game without mega evolving anyone. I still haven’t even bothered going through Battle Maison so I could get more mega evolution stones, despite having a good-IV shiny Mawile awaiting. I have only used mega evolution for a Gardevoir just so it could beat Pokemon up faster as I shiny hunt in the safari zone (And am trying to get it to synchronise its modest nature)
But anyway, yeah, I saw mega evolutions being revealed and just thought “oh ok” like I guess it’s cool to see some Pokemon become more usable, but I never thought I would use it myself.
but when Mega Kangaskhan was revealed ;_______;
i audibly fangirled
I mean I’m not even desperate to use it, but I just LOOOOOVE the concept. There’s always been talk and speculation about the baby and if the baby will ever be used, AND THEN THE MOTHER MEGA EVOLVES AND THE BABY IS JUST ITCHING FOR A FIGHT. CRUISIN FOR A BRUISIN. The other mega evolutions just feel like.. a bulk up of the Pokemon? An extra stage? But Mega Kangaskhan’s just got this ADORABLE gimmick attached.
i just love smogonmama for the concept alone, it’s just so cute and great and I am always happy to see it mega evolve when I am looking at battle videos (since i obviously lack one for myself lol)
Day 21: Favourite Baby Pokemon
I’ve always had mixed feelings about Togepi.
I hated it in the anime similarly to how I didn’t like Misty. And Togepi existing made her even more insufferable to me. There was the episode about keeping it and MEOWTH REALLY LOVED IT AND THE SHOW LOVES MAKING MEOWTH UNHAPPY AUGDFHGDFKHGKDHFG so I was kind of biased
And things like Togepi making mischief and getting Ash in trouble made me so angry. I hate that kind of misunderstanding thing, even when it’s done as a joke, the fact Ash would get screamed at for Togepi’s own wandering off bothered me immensely. Like there was also Ash pushing them all away because he was scared they were all gonna get shot at, and he did overreact, but Misty just flipped out at him when Togepi started crying. Ughghgg just stuff like that made me angry that Misty got to keep it, it woulda been better off with Brock AND MEOWHTSHFSKDHFAMEOWTHTH MEOWTH ESPECIALLY UGGHGHH
BUT ANYWAY THAT’S MY BACKGROUND ON HATING TOGEPI FOR QUITE A WHILE
Yet I was eager to get it in the game, and I drew it all the time. I think Togepi meant a lot because Togepi was one of the first Pokemon I saw that represented something new happening in the games. It also meant the end of the show’s hiatus at the time. I was hoping the anime would come back since it played the same set of episodes.. and then I began to see ads about new episodes, and new Pokemon along the way. It was so cool, it felt so incredible to realise there were gonna be many more, and that Gold/Silver were coming out. Togepi was kind of a trigger to so much looking forward to the future. I literally ran out of the apartment to scream to my brother “POKEMON IS COMING BACK” when I saw an ad for the new season for the first time. A kind of excitement you don’t really get back. He was too busy playing with a friend outside BUT I DIDN’T CARE SOMEONE HAD TO KNOW
Togepi was cute and fun to draw as well and its voice is really cute :-[ Lucy had a lot more pets in the old comics, and Togepi was one of them because I was a terrible person.
Day 20: Favourite Electric Rodent
best electric rodent coming through
MAN THAT EPISODE WITH RAICHU
My mind was so blown. It was like, WHOA PIKACHU JUST DOESN’T END THERE?!??
It was such a surprise to me, and Raichu’s cry in the game was so AMAZING. Why did they butcher it in the new games ;___; IT USED TO SOUND SO COOL. Now it’s like some dumb squeak WHAT DID YOU DO WITH RAICHU
still my fave though, no other electric rodent can compare
Day 19: Favourite Eeveelution
I’ve always been weird about Eevee.
When I got it in Blue, I thought it was the only one I could have, so I didn’t evolve it because I was too scared to make a mistake. You can’t go back on your evolution, you know? I couldn’t even figure out what was my favourite eevee evolution (I hate calling it eeveelution for some reason, IT JUST SOUNDS DUMB I’M SORRY) at the time. Because I’ve always been so fond of water types, I felt I had to pick Vaporeon, but Jolteon looked pretty great. AND I WANTED TO BE TOP TOMBOY INSTEAD OF A FILTHY WATER-LOVING GIRL.
i dunno stupid kid conflicts with evolving a Pokemon. Freaken CHOICES man
And despite being able to breed them past Red/Blue, I was still so stingy about preserving stones. I need to keep them, they were either really limited or super expensive. WHAT IF I MADE A MISTAKE.
I couldn’t even evolve Eevee into Espeon/Umbreon, because I didn’t know what to pick. I guess I was never too passionate about what to turn it into.
but oh my god when Y came out
I evolved my Eevee instantly.
Sylveon was the first evolution of Eevee that I was eager to get, I have to admit I initially thought it had a kind of ugly/over-the-top design, but then when I got it in the game I melted like putty. It’s so great. And it packs a wallop too.
sylveon casually strolls in and takes the crown for top Eevee to me.
Day 18: Favourite Water Type
I love the shit outta Marill.
There’s a kind of injoke that Souppy and I have in which he’s very insistent its name is Pikablu, and I keep going on about how its name is Marill. So we’ll be talking and I might bring up Marill, and he’s all “Oh.. huh, oh, you mean Pikablu right?”
He likes Marill a lot too, similarly to how he and I really like Articuno. MARILL AND ARTICUNO MAKE ME THINK OF MY BUBS.
But yeah Marill is adorable and great and I think Marill was the first of the new Pokemon I saw? And I was pretty excited for it, since I’ve always favoured water-types, they’re what I usually pick for a starter.
Kinda sad about its evolution, I’ve never been too fond of the bunny-eared Azumarill, it was the same reaction I had with Togetic, in which I super loved Togepi, but I just.. couldn’t be into its evolution. MARILL WAS THE SAME.
i love pikablu
Day 17: Favourite Steel Type
what a silly name
This was yet another Pokemon that I got not realising it would become a dual-type. Seriously HOW FREAKEN RAD IS THAT, man water/steel. So great. I was going on about Tyranitar starting up standstorms, this guy doesn’t even get TOUCHED by it. That took me by surprise. I GET SURPRISED BY SO MUCH, Pokemon is such a guessing game to me when I first start playing new generations. Guessing what’s super effective against fairy/weak, what Pokemon is strong against what and etc, and I never had a steel type in my team prior to Empoleon. So I needed to figure out what it was about!
I was initially gonna draw Magneton because of its super amazing cry, but Empoleon was a Pokemon I actually used, and it sure helped me through a ton.
Day 16: Favourite Rock Type
Man Tyranitar is so cool.
I’m honestly not that fond of rock types, they always felt terribly easy to beat. Just have a water/grass out there and they’re as good as dead, or a Pokemon can just punch them. Gone. Knock out Gravelers like nothing. Then again I always had a water type in my team, I’m sure you could say any type is easy to beat if you have their counter on your team, but I never really had to worry about rock-types.
I was playing Silver and came across a Larvitar and thought it was adorable. And adorable always wins out for me because I am a babby. I caught it, added it to my team. Might as well level it up to see what it would turn into. Pupitar was interesting, I actually felt kinda surprised because I was used to bug-types having a cocoon form, but Larvitar? What is it gonna turn into, maybe it will look cool.
What a beast.
Sandstorming it up, man Tyranitar took me by surprise. I didn’t have a Pokemon in my team that altered the weather, so I felt really cool sending it out and seeing the other Pokemon getting buffeted to death. JUST SO COOL
I still remember a psychic Pokemon using a psychic attack on it and it didn’t affect it, and I was like WHAT THE HELL HOW
I looked at its type
WHEN DID IT GET THAT
I should honestly do more research, but I think it’s kinda fun when you discover new types a Pokemon gets after evolution, I mean it sure as hell confused me when I kept going against freaken Scraftys
